REVIEW: Essence Lipstick #53 All About Cupcake

I decided to review this particular shade of Essence Lipstick as a part of my WEEKLY REVIEW 3-24-2014

Essence Cosmetics is available in Canada at SHOPPER's DRUGMART, this particular product was $2.99CAD

For comparison purposes I added another shade from the collection

PROS:
  • Very creamy/ Almost like a lip BALM consistency
  • Not drying
  • The colour can be BUILT up
CONS:
  • The pigmentation VARIOUS from SHADE to SHADE
  • Sweet Vanilla smell (very much a personal preference)
OVERALL: As you can see in the picture, shade #53 is NOT as pigmented as #50..BUT personally if I swipe it TWICE it DOES show up on MY LIPS.

To conclude I WOULD RECOMMEND this product, ESPECIALLY if your lips are a lighter colour (my lips are darker and very PIGMENTED to begin with ).

REVIEW: Hard Candy Glamoflauge Lite

Hard Candy Glamoflauge Lite is part of Hard Candy's release of new products

The "Glamoflauge" is a KNOWN HEAVY DUTY Hard Candy concealer. This particular product is suppose to be a "LITE" version of that
I am reviewing in as a part of my WEEKLY REVIEW 3/24/2014I purchased mine at my local WALMART for $5.98CAD

On the product it says "A multitasking correcting &correcting stick with two shades for a seamless, even complexion....ONE SIDE corrects blemishes undertone and the OTHER conceals blemish with matching skin tone"

The product is DOUBLE ENDED one side seem to be of a LIGHTER COLOUR (I believe to correct the blemishes undertone) and the OTHER SIDE is the actual shade of your skin

The corrector seems to have a PINKY/SALMON undertone, which WOULD be good for your under eyes...but it was TOO DRY for me

PROS:
  • Will conceal blemishes- MED~HEAVY coverage
CONS:
  • Is NOT very creamy
  • HARD to BLEND
  • Is DRYING
OVERALL: I would NOT recommend this product. Though the coverage is ver nice, the formula is NOT CREAMY ENOUGH and I found it HARD TO BLEND into my skin. This formula was also VER DRYING (I have combo-oily skin ...and it STILL dried my skin). I feel like it really gave me a "CAKEY" look. I would say TRY the ORIGINAL GLAMOFLAUGE instead!

REVIEW: Hard Candy Sheer Envy Dark Spot Correcting PRIMER

This product is part of HARD CANDY's NEW "Sheer Envy Primer" collection and part of my WEEKLY REVIEW 3/24/2014

I found this at my local WALMART for $7.98CAD

As you can see from the BOTTOM RIGHT picture, it does contain a very very very fine shimmer- Seen against the black cap

PROS:
  • The product DOES contain VERY TINY shimmers (in the light you can tell that it has tiny tiny pinky toned shimmer) WHICH does ADD a brightness (BOTTOM RIGHT picture)
  • Very SMOOTH texture -very much like a moisturizer
  • Does NOT make your face OILY/Does not CLING to dry patches
  • Does not have a perfume scent
CONS:
  • The product advertises to "diminish skin's imperfections" Which I did not notice.
OVERALL: I would RECOMMEND it IF you are looking for a PRIMER to BRIGHTEN your face. I DID NOT think it diminished my skin's imperfections...BUT the TEXTURE was VERY NICE and it DID NOT dry out my skin (as most primers tend to do).

REVIEW: Hard Candy Eyes the Limit eyeshadow primer

This product was recently introduced to the HARD CANDY line, which is available at WALMART in Canada.

I purchased mine for $4.98CAD and will be reviewing it as a part of my WEEKLY REVIEW 3/24/2014

  • Is very opaque, but the colour will disappear after blending
  • Has a SILICON feel
  • A TINY bit will go a LONG WAY
PROS:
  • Will cover up any eye lid dis-coloration
  • Blends in nicely
  • Will ENHANCE eyeshadow colours
  • Will KEEP your eyeshadow CREASE FREE (I had mine for about 6 hours)
CONS:
  • If you have VERY VERY oily lids, the product might slide around
OVERALL: I would 100% RECOMMEND this product. I have tried many drugstore and high end eyeshadow primers, but I really do think this is in my TOP 3. A tiny amount will go a long way, so this product is going to last you a LONG TIME.

I found the formula was thicker than some of the high end eyeshadow primers (Too Faced, Urban Decay..etc) which was GREAT for covering up discolouration on my eyelid. AND it made the eyeshadow colours POP.

If you find this product I suggest you GO PURCHASE IT!!!!

Review: Cover Girl Flamed Up MEGA CURL

Cover Girl Flamed Up MEGA CURL is part my my WEEKLY REVIEW 3/24/2014 I purchased mine at WALMART for $5.89CAD

This mascara is the second one in the FLAMED UP mascara by Cover Girl

The BIGGEST difference between the two mascara is the BRUSH
The brush from the MEGA CURL is CURVED
The brush TAPERS down

HERE are my lashes WITHOUT any products

Lashes with ONE COAT of mascara and CURLED
PROS:
  • Will add LENGTH
  • Does NOT Smudge/Flake
CONS:
  • Will NOT keep CURLS
  • Will CLUMP
  • Did NOT add volume (just clumped my lashes together)
OVERALL: I would ONLY recommend it to someone who is looking JUST for LENGTHENING. I found that the formula CLUMPED and DID not keep my eyelashes CURLED
(Please REMEMBER that MY LASHES are different from yours...and they will usually NOT stay CURLED unless I use a WATERPROOF formula)

SPOTTED: Essence LOVE LETTER collection at Shopper's DrugMart

I spotted the Essence cosmetics "LOVE LETTERS" collection at my local Shopper's Drug Mart....On the Essence Website  the collection is ONLY suppose to be available between
 Jan 2014-Feb 2014
But I guess that is where stores will vary with their displays, I have seen other Shopper's Drugmarts with EVEN OLDER essence collection displays.

Here is the DISPLAY from my local Shopper's
Here is a LINK to the FULL display

As you can see form the picture there some products were already sold out. The products range from $2.49CAD-$4.99CAD
Here is what I picked up so far

1. Essence "Love Letter" Eyeshadow Palette - $4.99CAD

2. Essence "Love Letter" Powder Papers- $2.99CAD

3. Essence "Love Letter Highlighting Powder- $3.99CAD
I plan on trying out these two products throughout the week!

SPOTTED: Jergen's BB Body cream @ Walmart and Real Canadian Super Store

I know this product has been available in US for quit a few months...BUT I have JUST recently spotted it at WALMART and the Real Canadian Super Store (grocery chain)!!!

At the Real Canadian Super Store they were $8.99CAD

Surprisingly they more more expensive at Walmart ($10.49CAD)

They come in 2 shades (Light and Medium-Dark)

I will be trying these soon, so check back soon!!!

REVIEW: NYC in a New York Minute #267 Hamptons Peach

I am reviewing this product as a part of my Weekly Review3/24/2014

I did NOT use any base coat or top coats

PROS:
  • Very Pigmented/Opaque (The TOP LEFT picture is just ONE coat of the polish)
  • Adequate shine without TOP COAT
  • Relatively FAST drying (about 2MIN to completely dry)
CONS:
  • Can be STREAKY
  • Is NOT especially long lasting (started chipping on the 2nd day)

OVERALL: I would RECOMMEND this product, though I can not say it is the best/top nail polish from the drugstore.  The colour is very pigmented and opaque. If you use a top coat it will last longer! I will be trying other shades and update!

HAUL 3/24/2014

I recently decided to fuel my makeup hoarding by visiting a Walmart...and this is what happened

2. Hard Candy Sheer Envy Colour Correcting Primer- $7.98CAD

3. Hard Candy All Glossed Up #779 Tickled Pink- $4.98CAD

4. NYC City Duet 2in1 Lip Color #430 The Rock A Fellas-            $2.97CAD

5. Rimmel Scandaleyes Curve Alert- $5.00CAD

6. Wet n' Wild 8 Pan Pallet 737A Poster Child-$4.64CAD

7. Wet n' Wild Megalast Nail Polish #206C Undercover-          $2.96CAD

8. Maybelline Color Show Holographic Nail Polish #45 Bold Gold- $2.84CAD

I plan on REVIEWING these slowly! I was especially excited to find the Wet n' Wild 8 pan pallet in Poster Child...as I have ONLY spotted these in the US.

DISCOVERY at WINNER'S: Essie Nail Stickers

I AM SOOO EXCITED to have spotted the Essie Sleep Stick nail sticker's at my local WINNER'S ....for $4.99CAD

The CHEAPEST I have EVER spotted them for is when they go on SALE at for $9CAD

I realize that every WINNER's store will VARY in what they stock...which is a bit sucky. But I thought I would still write a POST, so YOU can go look for THEM!!!

At this particular Winner's they had about 6 different designs available.

I can do a DETAILED REVIEW on them soon, but I have used these before and I do think they were WORTH the MONEY

SALE ALERT Shopper's Drug Mart

These QUO by Orly 3D Nail Art Stickers are on SALE at Shopper's Drug Mart RIGHT NOW (I have been told UNTIL 3/27/2014) for $3.79CAD

I have ONLY spotted these at Shopper's DrugMart, usually they go for $5CAD-$7CAD

I asked a Shopper's Employee if these were being discontinued, but he wasn't sure...So I will be checking back to see if they are pulled off of the shelves completely!

I will also be doing a REVIEW on these soon, CHECK BACK for updates<3

WEEKLY REVIEW 3-24-2014

Here are the products for this week's review

HAUL: Hard Candy

I recently spotted some new HARD CANDY products at my local Walmart

1. Hard Candy SHEER ENVY Dark Spot Correcting Primer-     $7.98CAD

2. Hard Candy Eyes The Limit eyeshadow Primer- $4.98CAD

3. Hard Candy Glamoflauge Lite concealer- $5.98CAD

I hope to REVIEW these products SOON

REVIEW: Herbal Essences Naked Dry Shampoo

This product is part of my WEEKLY REVIEW

This is NOT the first time I have hauled this product. The first time, I haled the HERBAL ESSENCES COLOUR ME HAPPY DRY SHAMPOO.

Because my first impression was not great (possibly due to faulty bottle) I decided to give this product another try.

This product is advertised to contain 0 Paraben and Colorants, and is available for $2.49CAD~$3.99CAD

PROS:
  • DID NOT leave a white caste
  • Absorbed oils
  • Has a sweet PEACH smell
CONS:
  • CAN BE DRYING
  • If you over spray, you can smell the ALCOHOL
Overall: I would RECOMMEND this product ONLY if you have OILY hair and DO NOT OVERSPRAY. Though this product did not LEAK like my first one, I still feel like the product is decreasing fast (I have only used it less than 5 times, and it's almost completely GONE- I only spray about 2 spritz MAX each time)

REVIEW: NYC Expert Last Lip Color

This product is part of my WEEKLY REVIEWS

The NYC EXPERT LAST LIP COLOUR line as a total of 20 shades- and is SUPPOSE to last UP TO 6HOURS

I purchased this product as a part of 2 for $3CAD deal at WALMART (I have seen them at other drugstores for around $2CAD)

  • The 2 shades I tested are #446(smooch) and #440 (Creamy Caramel)
  • I did not prime/use lip balm on my lips before hand, I also did not use gloss on top.
PROS:
  • PIGMENTED
  • Very CREAMY
  • Light bubble gum scent- that disappeared once it's on your lips
  • NOT drying
  • Last about 4 hours (I did eat lunch while testing this product, and did lightly blot my lips)
  • Has a slight sheen (NOT a MATT finish)
CONS:
  • Though this is not drying, it WILL SETTLE INTO your fine lines and dry spots (this was fixed after I used a lip balm under neath)
OVERALL: I would RECOMMEND this product! The formula felt very creamy, it felt like I was putting a lip balm on. Once I put a lip balm on UNDERNEATH, I was able to avoid the problem of the colours going into my fine lines/dry spots. I can't wait to try more colours!

REVIEW: NYC in a New York minute Nail Polish #202 Grand Central Station QUICK DRY

This nail polish is part of my WEEKLY REVIEW

I bought this nail polish at WALMART as a part of 2 for $3CAD deal! I have been looking for a QUICK DRY nail polish that provided adequate SHINE

When I bought this nail polish, I could tell that the brush looked a bit FRAYED (all of the available nail polish in this shade had this problem) BUT when I used it the straying bristles just gathered together and DID NOT give me any problems.

PROS:
  • Great consistency- NOT GOUPY or too watery
  • Dried completely in about 2 min
  • Provides adequate SHINE
CONS:
  • Did NOT see a difference in whether this product helped to keep my polish on for longer
OVERALL: I would RECOMMEND this product.  For the price you really can not go wrong. It dries COMPLETELY within 2 min and DID not feel GOUPY, I used to nails to lightly scratch but it DID NOT leave a mark.

REVIEW: Rimmel Scandaleyes SHOW OFF mascara

I am REVIEWING this product as a part of my WEEKLY REVIEW

This SHOW OFF mascara is part of the RIMMEL SCANDALEYES collection. The whole series has a total of 5 mascaras. This is my second review from the SCANDALEYES.

This product retails for $5.98 CAD at select drugstores in CANADA
On the tube it states that this mascara is suppose to give you "defined volume, life and length. Flat brush plumps, unique ball brush lifts and defines. Show off with no clumps!"

HERE are my eyes WITHOUT and products
My lashes POINT DOWN and usually WILL NOT hold a curl unless I use WATERPROOF mascara

  • The wand has a mace like ball tip. The bristles are plastic
  • The wand is flexible
PROS:
  • Did a OKAY job separating and adding a TINY bit of length to lashes
CONS:
  • The mascara SMUDGED and FLAKED throughout the day (I first noticed flaking after about an HOUR)
  • Hard to use the mace like ball tip, because you would get GLOPES of products on it
  • Though I only used one coat, I can easily see this product CLUMPING if a second coat were to be applied
OVERALL: I would NOT RECOMMEND this product. Though it did a OKAY job lengthening and separating, it DID NOT add any volume to my lashes :(

** Please remember that this review is based on MY OPINION and can vary depending on your preference.**

REVIEW: L'oreal Gold Dust Nail Polish (139 Rough Around The Edges)

I am reviewing this product as a part of this week's WEEKLY REVIEW

L'Oreal Gold Dust Nail Polish collection has a TOTAL of 9 colours in the USA- I have ONLY SPOTTED 4 of the colours here in CANADA

This product REMINDS me BOTH of the SALLY HANSEN GEM CRUSH line (PERMANENT) and the ESSIE ENCRUSTED TREASURES collection (the texture is VERY similar)

The shade I am review is 139 Rough Around The Edges- $5.96CAD
** For the purpose of testing out the product AS IS, I DID NOT put a base coat on BUT I did use the NYC clear top coat**

UPDATE DIFFERENT SHADE#141 Hidden Gems

To be honest, I DO NOT think you need both shades, as they are quit SIMILAR...UNTIL you are in the SUN LIGHT. #141 Hidden Gems has TINY TINY BLUE shimmers, but I COULD ONLY see them when I added TWO COATS OF SHINY top coat, even then, it LOOKED VERY SIMILAR TO #139 Rough Around The Edges

PROS:
  • Very OPAQUE
  • Takes about 3 MINUTES to completely dry
  • Easy to take off
CONS:
  • The second coat was HARDER TO PUT ON (Possibly due to the gritty texture)
  • Chipped a lot faster than the other L'oreal nail polishes (Could be due to the fact that I DID NOT put a base coat)
OVERALL: I would RECOMMEND this product! This product is definitely WORTH a TRY. I can't wait to try on the other colours!

REVIEW: ELF STUDIO LIP STAIN

ELF STUDIO LIP STAIN is a part of my WEEKLY REVIEW

ELF IS NOT available in CANADA in STORES, BUT is available ONLINE. The SHIPPING is around $14.95CAD to CANADA

Most items on the site vary from $1CAD~$15 CAD I usually order on BLACK FRIDAY where there is EVERYTHING is HALF OFF (UP TO $100 of savings)

This product is part of the STUDIO line which starts from $3~$15USD

The 3 shades I have are:(in TOTAL this product has 8 SHADES)
  1. #101011 HEART BREAKER
  2. #01117 BIRTHDAY SUIT
  3. #01124 LUCKY LADY

  • I used these products WITHOUT any lip balm /lip liner/lip gloss and DID NOT touch up

PROS:
  • Colour can be BUILT UP
  • The colour CAN last a very long time (about 6 hours)
  • Will STAIN lips (without lip balm- it DRIES and settles into the fine lines/dry spots on your lips)
CONS:
  • The formula is VERY WATERY almost a OILY feel
  • Dries to a MATT finish but it IS DRYING
  • The GLOSS wand is VERY HARD- the texture is VERY HARD
OVERALL: I WOULD RECOMMEND this product- IF you use it with a LIP BALME and apply your own gloss. It DID STAIN my lips, but remember that it is DRYING WITHOUT LIP GLOSS.

REVIEW: ELF eyebrow TREAT&TAME

ELF eyebrow TREAT&TAME  $3.00 USA is part of my WEEKLY REVIEW

ELF IS NOT available in CANADA in STORES, BUT is available ONLINE. The SHIPPING is around $14.95CAD to CANADA

Most items on the site vary from $1CAD~$15 CAD I usually order on BLACK FRIDAY where there is EVERYTHING is HALF OFF (UP TO $100 of savings)

THIS one is in the colour DEEP(#81205)
(This product comes in a TOTAL of 5 SHADES)
  • The product is DOUBLE ENDED
  • The TOP RIGHT shows the EYEBROW BRUSH/"TAME" end brush has SHORT and SPIRALS DOWN in the SAME LENGTH
  • The other end is the "TREAT" end is a STRAIGHT brush, it IS somewhat flexible

The "TREAT" end is suppose to help with the RE-GROWTH of your eyebrow

PROS:
  • The colour is VERY PIGMENTED
  • The "TAME" brush has FIBRE like materials attached to it, making it easier for the formula to adhere to your eyebrow (even if you don't have a lot of hair)
  • The "TREAT" end acts as a BROW GEL
  • The colour WILL NOT rub off once it is DRY
  • DOES NOT dry out/ or make your eyebrows "crispy"
CONS:
  • The product can get GOUPY at the END of the "TAME" brush
OVERALL: I WOULD DEFINITELY RECOMMEND this product to EVERYONE!!! There is enough colour selection that I think everyone will be able to find their own brow shade. The product WORKS BEST if you BRUSH through your brows AFTER.

I would this RECOMMEND this EVEN to BEGINNERS. I would probably say that it will WORK BETTER if you already have some eyebrow hairs to work with, as the formula sticks to HAIR better. It still DOES FILL in the areas where you LACK HAIR.

This is a PERFECT product for those days when you don't want to take the time (in my case I just lack the skills) to DRAW your brow and FILL them in neatly with a powder product.

I have the Benefit Gimme Brow ($26CAD) AND the SEVERAL ANASTASIA BEVERLY HILLS (anywhere from $20~60CAD) and I REACH for this product A LOT more often. It is sooo much easier to use and you CAN NOT BEAT the price ($3)

REVIEW: Essence METAL GLAM BLUSH 01 GLAM-ME

Essence METAL GLAM BLUSH in 01 GLAM -ME is part of my WEEKLY REVIEW

This blush was a part of the METAL GLAM display from ESSENCE COSMETICS and is APPROXIMATELY $3.25 CAD

**I realize I SHOULD NOT have done a review on this product as this the METAL GLAM display is no longer available at the MAJORITY of the Shopper's Drug Marts(I was just lucky enough to find displays that were still up at SOME Shopper's Drug Marts)**

L: The product RIGHT OUT OF THE TUBER: The product BLENDED OUT, HAS a HIGH SHEEN and CONTAINS FINE SHIMMER
PROS:
  • VERY pigmented
  • The FORMULA is VERY CREAMY and ESAY to BLEND
  • You can BUILD UP the product to your liking
  • Although there is SHIMMER in the product it is VER FINE
CONS:
  • MUST BLEND FAST, Once it dries it is harder to blend.
OVERALL: I WOULD RECOMMEND this product to anyone who likes a blush with a SHEEN and SHIMMER. You only need a TINY bit of the product EACH TIME and for under $5 CAD you can't beat it!

REVIEW: L'Oreal REVITALIFT MIRACLE BLUR -Instant Skin Smoother Finishing Cream

L'Oreal REVITALIFT MIRACLE BLUR- Instant Skin Smoother Finishing Cream is part of my WEEKLY REVIEW

I found mine at WALMART for $21.96 CAD (This seems to be the cheapest REGULAR PRICE)

The purpose of this product is to act UNDER MAKEUP as a PRIMER or act ALONE as a SKIN SMOOTHER

I have the ORIGINAL formula (there is also a OIL FREE formula):
  • As seen from the ABOVE picture, it comes out as a THICK consistency
  • Once it is BLENDED it will leave NO VISIBLE FILM
  • LET DRY before applying MAKEUP to stop the makeup from SLIDING
PROS:
  • NON SCENTED
  • Very smooth finish- DEFINITELY smooths out skin (Blurs out fine lines/pores)
  • You can see a SIGNIFICANT difference even if you DO NOT put makeup on
CONS:
  • Will STICK TO DRY SPOTS
OVERALL: I WOULD RECOMMEND this product:
  • Though it is on the pricier side a LITTLE DOT will go a LONG WAY
  • The product GOES ON SMOOTHLY and smoothes out your skin, BUT DOES NOT FEEL GREASY
  • Can be used both UNDER and OVER makeup
This is a GREAT alternative and for me WORKS BETTER than the MAKEUP FOREVER primers that easily go from $30~$50 (I have used both the MICROPERFECTING primer and the ALL MATT primers). Let me know how this WORKED FOR YOU!!!

REVIEW: Essence ALL ABOUT MATT- fixing compact powder

This product is part of my WEEKLY REVIEW series

The ESSENCE ALL ABOUT MATT fixing compact powder is a NEW (BUT PERMANENT)product recently (at least in my region) introduced by ESSENCE cosmetics.

In CANADA they are available from SHOPPER's DRUG MART. I purchased mine for $3.99 CAD

**THERE IS ONLY ONE SHADE**

As you can see from the RIGHT side picture
  • The VERY TOP shows a ONE SWIPE SWATCH of the product
  • The MIDDLE picture show the product on my skin WITHOUT it being BLENDED
  • The last picture is a picture of the product once it is BLENDED
PROS:
  • WILL ABSORB oil (I used the product to FIX the my SHINY T-zone throughout the day)
  • Will blend out quit nicely
  • Smooth powder
CONS:
  • IF you apply TOO MUCH product or DO NOT blend it properly you WILL have a WHITE CASTE (WITH or WITHOUT FLASH photography)- ALSO remember I HAVE A YELLOW UNDERTONE
  • DOES NOT have a mirror
OVERALL: Though this product has a VERY reasonable price tag, I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND this product. Here are the reasons:
  • It's really hard to TOUCH UP with this product, because IT DOES NOT have a mirror and that makes it hard for you to check if you BLENDED the product properly(I know this could be where they are saving COST- but I HAVE ELF products that HAVE MIRRORS and cost about the same)
  • I DO NOT carry a blending brush with me, so I used a COMPACT SPONGE....which is REALLY NOT a great tool to use when it came to blending in the product
  • WILL SETTLE into your FINE LINES/DRY SPOTS
If you have VERY OILY SKIN and perhaps a LIGHTER skin tone, you COULD TRY this product out. I definitely WILL NOT REPURCHASE.
